Permanent War
The Domestic Costs of Empire
This is a
PowerPoint slideshow created by Prof. Sheila Collins, William
Paterson University. Click
here for the script* that
accompanies the slideshow.
-
To view it as
a web-based slideshow, click
here. The advantage off this version is that
anyone can use it even if they do not have PowerPoint software
on their computer. It is also a much smaller file to
download. The disadvantage is that there is a very slight
diminution in the sharpness and color of the slideshow.
Instructions. Click your mouse to advance
slide-by-slide and subtitle-by-subtitle.

The
controls consist of VCR-like buttons that allow the viewer
to (from left to right on the console): rewind the slideshow
(move to the first slide), move to the previous slide,
pause/play the presentation, and move to the next slide.
Only use the control buttons to navigate to a particular
point in the the slideshow. The control buttons will
not allow you to capture all the subtitles. That is
why you should use the mouse to present the show.
-
To view it as
a PowerPoint slideshow, click
here. The advantage is that you get full
advantage of the PowerPoint software. The disadvantage is
that you cannot use it if you don't have PowerPoint software on
your computer. It is also a much bigger file to download,
which may cause problems if you do not have a high speed (cable
or DSL) connection.
Our thanks to
Prof. Collins for making this presentation available on our website.
Please be sure to credit her when using this slideshow.
